It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…

23 november 2017 -

Christmas is around the corner and therefore, we at Business Booking International, have selected a few Christmas markets that we think are most atmospheric and enjoyable to visit.

Dresden, Germany

The Dresdner Striezelmarkt is the oldest Christmas market in Germany, it is known for its famous Christmas bread called Striezel, since 1434. Every year the market’s opening will start with establishing the Christmas pyramid and the cutting the first slice of Striezel. The Christmas pyramid of the Striezelmarkt is more than 14 meters high and therefore the tallest one of the world. The Christmas market is characterized by its traditional attractions, music and food. Annually, the market attracts 2,5 million visitors, which makes this one of the most popular Christmas markets in Germany. The market stands are selling Herrnhut stars, Lebkuchen from the gingerbread city of Pulsnitz, and blue prints stars and pottery from Lausitz.

London, UK

One of the cities which is definitely worth visiting to buy all your Christmas presents and decorations would be London. Starting the 20th of November the capital city of the United Kingdom will be covered in lights and the streets will be Christmas themed with decorations. Next to that, you can visit various Christmas markets and ice skating platforms. The most atmospheric markets are located close to the London Eye, Hyde Park and around Serpentine Road. The market in Hyde Park is called ‘Winter Wonder Land’ and is maybe one of the most impressive places to go to during this time of the year.

Strasbourg, France

The oldest Christmas market in France, is located in Strasbourg and is called Christkindelsmärik. This Christmas market was held for the first time in 1570 and therefore has much experience in bringing Christmas to town. Starting the last week of November Strasbourg will turn into in a beautiful winter paradise. Christkindelsmärik spreads out across the center, Cathedral square and Place Broglie. The market includes many different stalls which sell food, toys, ornaments and of course mulled wine.
